In 2017, the beginnings of the Protestant Reformation were being observed throughout Europe. While the media focus was on Wittenberg, the place the Reformation originated, it was easy to forget that Zurich can be considered the quintessential city of the Protestant Reformation. After all, the resolutions of the Zurich Council in the early 1520s were of epochal significance throughout Europe. All in all, it is good opportunity to learn how current research assesses the past and anticipates the future:
