Welcome to the Department of History at the University of Zurich! History is an extensive and diverse subject, and so is our thematic and methodological approach in teaching and research. This includes Swiss history, European history spanning from antiquity to the contemporary period as well as the history of Africa, Asia, and the United States. The vast range of courses allows you to choose your own priorities and follow your interests. Small classes and individual supervision provide an accessible and friendly environment.

The Department of History is situated in the city centre and profits from an infrastructure that is ideal for studying history. Thus, you can find multiple libraries, archives, museums as well as cafés, sports facilities and many more in close proximity.
