Appointments, grants and awards for our young researchers

In recent months, outstanding young researchers from our Faculty have received  appointments to other universities as well as grants or awards on their research projects. We congratulate warmly.

  • Elisa Macchi, PhD student at the Department of Economics, has received and accepted an offer as Assistant Professor at Brown University starting January 2023.
  • Dóra Simon, PhD student at the Department of Economics, has received and accepted an offer as Assistant Professor at the Business School of the University of Stavanger, Norway, starting HS21.
  • Max Winkler, former PhD student at the Department of Economics, has received and accepted an offer as Assistant Professor at the University of Exeter starting September 2022.
  • Matthias Huss, Research Associate to Lorenz Hilty (Department of Informatics), has received a total of CHF 900,000 from the Lichtenstein Development Service and the SYMPHASIS Foundation for the project «Evidence-based Scaling of Improved On-Farm Storage among Smallholders».
  • Maximilian Schleich, former doctoral student of Dan Olteanu (Department of Informatics), received an Honourable Mention for the 2021 SIGMOD Jim Gray Doctoral Dissertation Award for his dissertation «Structure-Aware Learning over Multi-Relational Databases».
