Research Interests
Tooth wear is mainly caused by caries and erosion. Erosions are defined as acid induced tooth wear without involvement of bacteria. Central to these processes is the dissolution of hydroxyapatite minerals of the teeth. Aim of our research is to understand the basic processes causing these kinds of tooth wear. Furthermore, we are investigating and developing new preventive approaches to prevent these acid induced tooth damages. These preventive approaches are focusing on the tooth wear causing acids and the dental hard tissues itself.
