Martha Koukkou, Dr. med., Professorin für Psychophysiologie in der Psychiatrie an den Universitäten Athen und Zürich. Psychophysiologin, Psychiaterin und psychoanalytisch orientierte Psychotherapeutin.

Geboren in Athen, dort Schulen und Medizinstudium. Post-doctoral Training, Forschung und klinische Arbeit an den Universitäten Athen, München, Freiburg i.B., University of California San Francisco Medical Center, Zürich und Bern: Hirnforschung, Psychophysiologie, Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie.

Forschungsinteressen (siehe auch die Liste der Publikationen):

   (1) Hirn-Elektrophysiologie des Lernens und der Erinnerung bei Gesunden während Entwicklung und Schlaf, wie auch bei Individuen mit neurotischer und psychotischer Symptomatik vor und während Psychopharmaka-Therapie.

   (2) Integration empirischer Daten aus einem breiten Spektrum der Neuro- und Human-Wissenschaften in einem heuristischen Modell der Hirnfunktionen, welche der Entstehung der Individualität und Subjektivität zu Grunde liegen. Anwendung des Modells auf u.A. die Traumentstehung, Entstehung psychosomatischer Symptome, und auf die Wirkungswege der Psychotherapie und Psychopharmaka-Therapie.

Nach der Emeritierung Weiterführung der Forschung in Bern (Psychiatrische Universitätsklinik) und Zürich (KEY Institute for Brain-Mind Research, Psychiatrische Universitätsklink) und der Vorlesungen in Bern und Zürich über "Gehirn und Verhalten". In Zürich zusätzlich Vorlesungen über "Psychobiologische Modelle des menschlichen Gehirns, und die Emotionen beim Menschen", über "Menschenbilder - Hirnmodelle - Neurosemodelle", und über “Gehirn – Gefühl - Gedächtnis und die Entstehung der Individualität”.
