International Network

Cooperation beyond borders is crucial for our common future, as complex societal challenges know no borders. International study experiences not only offer important opportunities to learn languages and intercultural skills, but also contribute to increasingly relevant transversal skills such as problem solving, resilience or effective communication. The objectives in this context are defined in detail in UZH's Global Strategy 2030. Further information on international organizations and networks in the areas of research, teaching, innovation and other important areas of higher education can be found on the pages of the Global Affairs department.

Collaboration with global partners enables our students to benefit from attractive mobility agreements, while research and teaching gain access to international projects and funding opportunities. Our interactive map provides an overview of all partner universities and faculties where IPZ students can complete an international experience as part of an exchange semester or exchange year. Details of all available exchange places can be found in the Mobility Online Search Portal.

UNA Europa

Eleven leading European universities joined forces in 2018 to form the unique "Una Europa" network. UZH is a member of this university alliance. The common goal of Una Europa is a university of the future with joint teaching and research and in-depth collaboration at all levels. Further information on the partner universities, goals, projects and opportunities to get involved as a student or researcher can be found on the Global Affairs website and the Una Europa network website.

The IPZ actively participates in projects and initiatives launched via Una Europa. From 2025, we will be part of the Una Europa Joint Bachelor of Arts in European Studies (BAES) and from 2026 we will also be part of the Joint Bachelor in Sustainability (BASUS). This means that we will represent the Department of Political Science at UZH in two joint study programs at Bachelor level. A detailed interview with Vice President Gabriele Siegert on this topic was published in UZH News.

We are committed to providing further options and funding opportunities for international mobility and to continuously deepening our cooperation with the Una Europa partner universities and trilateral partners.

Regional Exchange: University of Konstanz

The IPZ maintains a strategic cooperation with the Department of Politics and Public Administration at the University of Konstanz in Germany. As part of Module Mobility, it is possible for IPZ students to attend individual seminars and lectures in Konstanz. You pay no tuition fees and receive an official transcript after the course. Based on this document, the ECTS credits and grades can then be credited to your degree program in Zurich. As the semester dates in Konstanz differ from those at UZH, block courses are also an option for all students who cannot or do not want to commute weekly, especially between June and September.

You will be informed about the courses offered in Konstanz and the exact registration procedure in due time by the IPZ mobility coordinator via the studnews mailing list. Further links and information on the courses offered in Konstanz can be found on this website of the University of Konstanz.
