Inaugural lecture by Prof. Christoph Basten, 07.10.2019

You are warmly invited to the inaugural lecture of Prof. Christoph Basten:

Empirical Evaluations of Banking and its Regulation in Switzerland and beyond

His inaugural lecture will focus first on an empirical evaluation of the Basel III macroprudential policy tool Counter-Cyclical Capital Buffer, and second explore the effects of Negative Interest Rate Policy (NIPR) features in Switzerland, which were adopted just this September also by the European Central Bank.

Christoph Basten studied economics at Oxford, Pompeu Fabra, Harvard, and the EUI, and finished with a PhD in labor economics and household finance. Following that, he spent close to 5 years working for the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA, before returning to academia and applying his microeconometric tools to evaluate banking regulation.

The inaugural lecture is public and will take place in the Aula of the University of Zurich (KOL G-201, Raemistrasse 71, 8006 Zurich) on Monday, October 7, 2019, at 19:30. No reservation is needed.

We are looking forward to seeing you there!
