Sustainability at UZH

UZH is committed to the active and systematic promotion of sustainable development on every level. Members of the University contribute to this goal within the scope of their duties. The Executive Board of UZH and the faculties recognize their duty to promote sustainable development through research and teaching, providing services and engaging in an exchange with the public.

Sustainability Policy

The UZH Mission Statement sets out that “sustainability in scholarship as well as in [...] operations [is] a core responsibility.” The Sustainability Policy codifies this principle by formulating an overarching objective for strengthening sustainability. The principle is further elaborated on by way of the Implementation Strategy for the Sustainability Policy.

Sustainability Hub

The Sustainability Hub supports activities on sustainability in research, teaching and operations, works on fundamental issues of sustainability research and teaching, coordinates the implementation of measures and promotes networking among all university members and units committed to sustainable development.

Low-Impact Mobility

As a city university, UZH connects people and places with healthy and sustainable ways of getting around. The university’s mobility and transport strategy defines the strategic framework for mobility at UZH and how it will evolve over time, and governs the passenger traffic generated by UZH.
