UZH Awards

Each year at the Dies academicus celebration, the University's faculties award honorary doctorates to distinguished teachers and researchers. In addition, the status of "guest of honor" is granted in recognition of dedicated service to academia.

Since 2007, UZH has been recognizing excellence in teaching through the Teaching Award "Credit Suisse Award for Best Teaching". Every year, we therefore ask students to nominate their favorite members of the teaching staff. It, too, is presented at the annual Dies academicus celebration.

Each faculty at UZH presents an annual award for excellent scholarship. These awards are also presented at the Dies academicus festivities.

The semester awards are also granted by the faculties for excellent work. The prize is presented at the "Tag der Lehre".

Besides handing out awards for academic achievements, each year the University of Zurich also presents the Team Effort Award to staff or students in acknowledgment of outstanding commitment. The award comes with prize money of CHF 5,000 and is presented at the Dies academicus.
