Analyzing national and international regulatory proposals

The global financial crisis has triggered a political debate on the need for stricter regulation of financial markets – a topic of great economic significance for Switzerland in general, and for Zurich as a financial center in particular. The URPP Financial Market Regulation examines existing regulatory concepts and analyzes them in terms of their historical development, but also in regard to international policies.

Calls for better regulation of Switzerland’s financial market have been growing ever louder over the 12-year term of the URPP Financial Market Regulation. The legal scholars and economists contributing to the URPP brought their impartial and independent expertise to bear in the reform process. The program’s director Rolf Sethe, professor of civil, commercial and business law, takes stock now that the URPP has come to an end.
