At UZH we offer students an excellent environment full of opportunities and a level of diversity that is unique in Switzerland. We empower the younger generation to take ownership of their future. Innovative and modern teaching is crucial to this.
The aim of university teaching is to optimally prepare students for their academic and professional futures. In the UZH Curriculum, we have set out six quality attributes that are intended to guide the development of study programs.
Quality Standards
Instructors and students need digital services that are as smooth and user-friendly as possible. We lay the groundwork to make sure the university is digitally fit for the future, and continually and consistently improve the quality of digital services in teaching.
Digital Teaching and Learning
Good teaching is open to outside input and offers students a variety of opportunities for gaining international experience. Throughout Europe, new alliances are cropping up between universities, with joint virtual campuses, shared online learning resources and innovative forms of student mobility.
International Networks
With its seven faculties, UZH offers the broadest range of subjects in Switzerland – and therefore ideal opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange in teaching and study. The interdisciplinary courses enable students to analyze complex problems in a holistic way and to develop innovative and creative solutions.
Interdisciplinarity and Transdisciplinarity
Inspiring and resourceful instructors create positive learning experiences and improve students’ prospects for the future in a very immediate way. At UZH we emphasize quality and innovation when it comes to the creation and development of modern teaching methods.
Promoting Teaching and Innovation
At UZH we champion the creation of a lively, cross-faculty teaching community. Teaching communities strengthen the sense of belonging of all teachers at UZH. In this way we pool our efforts to take a joined-up approach to meeting the demands of a rapidly-changing society.
Teaching Community
Here at UZH we think it’s important to have a broad discussion about quality in teaching. Every year, we therefore ask students to nominate their favorite members of the teaching staff. A jury comprising three representatives of the VSUZH and the Vice President Education and Student Affairs then picks the winner.
