Babylonian Kings and Greek Mythology

Would you like to learn about the interior design trends that Neo-Babylonian kings followed when decorating their palaces? Or what the ancient Egyptians gave their dead for the hereafter? How about discovering the mysterious world of the Etruscans or refreshing your knowledge of Greek mythology by studying the lively images on their vases? Perhaps you would like to become acquainted with the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans face to face. The extensive collection of both original pieces and plaster casts at the museum takes visitors on a fascinating journey into the world of antique cultures.

Did you know?

The Archaeological Collection at the University of Zurich has its origins in the 19th century when plaster casts of antique sculptures were collected. Way back in 1852, professors at the University – who were soon joined by their colleagues from the newly established ETH – began using the earnings from public lectures to buy casts for the collection.
