The primary focus of the East Asian Art History program is the study of art objects from China, Japan, and Korea, from their historical development and regional interconnections, to their movements between East Asia and the West. The program’s particular strength lies in its international character and practice-oriented training.
Visiting professors and guest lecturers from renowned international institutions regularly teach courses and hold talks at our department. In addition, we also organize international excursions on a regular basis.
Our program provides our candidates with the opportunity to participate in research projects in which they can directly handle and examine artworks in museums or private collections. In Switzerland, the East Asian Art History study program is unique to the University of Zurich
